Mark DeSaulnier, a current U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district since 2015, actively engaged with his constituents through a series of social media posts. DeSaulnier has a longstanding political career, having served in various capacities including the California State Assembly and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors, before replacing George Miller in the U.S. Congress.
On April 24, 2025, DeSaulnier addressed the freezing of EPA community grants in Contra Costa County initiated by President Trump. “When President Trump froze EPA community grants without notice here in Contra Costa County, I joined @RepGaramendi in calling on the Administration to halt this unconstitutional action and restore the funding that was duly allocated by Congress. These funds are critical for”, he stated, emphasizing the necessity of these funds.
Later the same day, DeSaulnier commemorated Yom HaShoah, the Holocaust Remembrance Day. “On Yom HaShoah, we honor the memories of the six million innocent Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust and recommit ourselves to fighting back against hatred and antisemitism in all its forms. May their memories be for a blessing and may #NeverAgain be a lasting reality”, he tweeted, reflecting on the importance of remembrance and the fight against discrimination.
In a lighter note, DeSaulnier introduced a new member to his team in honor of Earth Week. “This Earth Week, it’s only fitting to introduce our new honorary Team DeSaulnier staff member! Scarlett is a red-shouldered hawk who has built her nest outside our district office window and become our team’s unofficial mascot. My work in Congress to protect the environment is”, he announced, showcasing a commitment to environmental issues alongside an appreciation for local wildlife.
Mark DeSaulnier, 71, was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, and currently resides in Concord. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the College of the Holy Cross in 1974.
