Mark DeSaulnier, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district since 2015, recently used his social media platform to address several issues including health care, Social Security, and local libraries.
On July 30, 2025, DeSaulnier highlighted the anniversary of federal health care programs in a tweet: “Today marks 60 years of lifesaving health care thanks to Medicaid and Medicare! This anniversary comes as Republicans have just authorized the largest cut to Medicaid in its history which will also trigger cuts to Medicare through their Big Ugly Bill. Amid these attacks, I remain”.
The following day, July 31, he commented on proposed changes to Social Security: “The Trump Administration is saying the quiet part out loud – they want to privatize Social Security. This is your earned money and benefits that Republicans are scheming to sell to the highest bidder.”
On August 1, DeSaulnier shared his experience visiting a local library: “As an avid, lifelong reader, libraries have always held a special place in my heart. Today I visited the Orinda Library to walk the shelves and hear about the community programs they and other @contracostalib offer to serve CA-10 families.”
DeSaulnier has represented California’s 10th district since succeeding George Miller in Congress in 2015. His prior public service includes terms in both chambers of the California legislature and over a decade on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952 and currently residing in Concord, DeSaulnier graduated from College of the Holy Cross with a BA in 1974.
