Mark DeSaulnier, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district, has recently addressed several key issues through his social media platform. His focus remains on defending public education, healthcare access, and the challenges faced by small businesses.
On May 14, 2025, DeSaulnier expressed his commitment to defending students and teachers during hearings with the Education and Workforce Committee Democrats. He highlighted efforts to protect students with disabilities against policies from the Trump Administration aimed at dismantling public education. DeSaulnier announced that he would be hosting a virtual town hall to further discuss these issues. “In @EdWorkforceDems hearings, on the House Floor, and across CA-10, I’ve been defending students and teachers and working to protect students with disabilities against the Trump Administration’s attempts to dismantle public education.”
Later that day, DeSaulnier criticized House Republicans for pushing through a budget bill that could jeopardize healthcare for millions of Americans. He noted that this includes over 131,000 individuals in California’s 10th district. The congressman accused Republicans of reallocating funds to provide additional tax breaks for the wealthy and large corporations. “House Republicans are ramming through a government budget bill that threatens the health care of millions of Americans.”
In another statement made on May 14, DeSaulnier shared his concerns regarding President Trump’s tariffs and their negative impact on small businesses in his district and nationwide. Drawing from his experience as a former small business owner, he emphasized how these tariffs harm community-based enterprises that lack the resources of larger corporations. “As a former small business owner, I took to the House Floor today to share the devastating impacts of President Trump’s tariffs on small businesses here in CA-10.”
Mark DeSaulnier has served in Congress since 2015 after succeeding George Miller. Prior to his current role, he was part of the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2008 and served in the California Senate until 2015.
