Mark DeSaulnier, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district, has recently addressed issues ranging from suicide prevention and vaccine efficacy to wildfire safety in a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 3, 2025, DeSaulnier shared a personal message about mental health awareness: “Having lost my father to suicide, I am dedicated to ensuring all Americans have access to comprehensive behavioral health services. This Suicide Prevention Month, check in on your loved ones and utilize resources like the 988 lifeline that are available all day, every day.”
The following day, September 4, he highlighted the importance of vaccines in preventing childhood diseases: “There’s a reason we don’t hear stories about American children being infected with polio, diphtheria, pertussis, and mumps – safe and effective vaccines have made these diseases nearly nonexistent in our communities thanks to the work and expertise of scientists. Florida’s”
On September 5, DeSaulnier turned attention to wildfire safety concerns in California: “The data is clear – devastating wildfires are increasing in frequency and severity in California and across the country. The last decade alone has seen 15 of the 20 most destructive wildfires in our state’s history. I’m hosting a Fire Safety Town Hall in Orinda on Saturday,”
DeSaulnier has represented California’s 10th District since replacing George Miller in Congress in 2015. His public service career also includes terms on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors (1994-2006), the California State Assembly (2006-2008), and the California Senate (2008-2015). Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952 and currently residing in Concord at age 71, DeSaulnier graduated from College of the Holy Cross with a BA degree.
