Mark DeSaulnier, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district since 2015, has recently made several public statements addressing national labor issues, foreign policy, and workforce trends.
On April 14, 2026, DeSaulnier announced his support for an investigation into the Department of Labor’s actions regarding worker benefits. In a post on social media, he stated: “Proud to join @EdWorkforceDems Ranking Member @BobbyScott in calling on the Department of Labor to investigate Secretary Chavez DeRemer for disregarding the Dept’s responsibility to protect the health care, disability, and retirement benefits of more than 155 million workers,” (April 14, 2026).
Later that day, DeSaulnier commented on recent developments concerning U.S. military action in Iran and civic engagement from his constituents: “I returned to Capitol Hill today ready to hold this Administration accountable for its illegal, reckless war with Iran. Thanks to all of the constituents who continue to be engaged in democracy and called our office to make their voices heard. It was great to connect directly” (April 14, 2026).
On April 15, 2026, DeSaulnier addressed changes in workforce dynamics following the COVID-19 pandemic. He highlighted findings from a report he commissioned: “Since the pandemic we have seen the workforce, and with it the needs of workers and their communities, evolve with the rise of telework here in the Bay Area and around the country. A report I commissioned confirms that telework has had positive effects on workers, the economy,” (April 15, 2026).
DeSaulnier’s legislative career includes previous service in both chambers of California’s state legislature as well as on Contra Costa County’s Board of Supervisors. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952 and currently residing in Concord at age 71, he is an alumnus of College of the Holy Cross.
