Mark DeSaulnier, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 10th district since 2015, recently shared his views and concerns through a series of tweets. His statements covered significant political and social issues, including budget negotiations and international incidents.

On May 21, 2025, Mark DeSaulnier expressed frustration with ongoing budget discussions in Congress. He tweeted: “I’m sitting in my DC office waiting as Republicans enter their 16th hour of trying to ram through their reckless budget over Democrats’ objections that would strip health care from millions in our communities and add trillions to the deficit.” He indicated plans to go live while waiting for developments.

The following day, on May 22, DeSaulnier conveyed his sorrow over a tragic event involving embassy staff members. In his tweet, he stated: “Horrified and heartbroken over the murder of Israeli Embassy staffers, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim last night in DC. Antisemitism and violence have no place in our country.” He emphasized the importance of condemning such acts.

Later on May 22, he addressed efforts by House Democrats to counter Republican initiatives regarding healthcare funding. In another tweet, he noted: “House Democrats introduced more than 500 amendments to try and stop Republicans from passing their budget bill that will kick 14 million people off their health care in order to fund tax cuts for the ultrawealthy.” He highlighted that these actions delayed the vote by 29 hours.

Mark DeSaulnier has an extensive background in public service prior to his congressional role. He served in the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2008, the California Senate from 2008 to 2015, and was on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors from 1994 to 2006. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952, DeSaulnier resides in Concord.
