On June 17, 2025, DeSaulnier tweeted about his conversation with KQED regarding a letter he sent to ICE. He stated, “I spoke with @KQED about the letter I sent to ICE asking for more information about recent immigration raids in Contra Costa County. I am committed to making sure the agency is adhering to the law and to holding them accountable if not.”
Later that day, DeSaulnier addressed concerns over immigration raids in another tweet. He mentioned speaking with NBC Bay Area and expressed his views on the federal administration’s actions towards California: “Our community deserves answers about the chaotic and cruel immigration raids in our district and state. I spoke with @nbcbayarea about my efforts to hold ICE accountable and why I believe the Trump Administration is targeting California.”
On June 18, 2025, DeSaulnier highlighted a different aspect of his congressional duties by welcoming service academy nominees. He tweeted: “Last night I welcomed this year’s class of service academy nominees to our office for a celebration of their hard work and decision to serve our country. Our team wishes them the best of luck as they head to their respective academies.”
Mark DeSaulnier has an extensive political career spanning various roles before joining Congress. He served in the California State Assembly from 2006-2008, the California Senate from 2008-2015, and was part of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors from 1994-2006.
