Mark DeSaulnier, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district since 2015, recently posted updates on his official X (formerly Twitter) account about his activities and legislative priorities in August 2025.
On August 18, DeSaulnier shared details of his visit to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), writing: “As a senior member of @EdWorkforceDems, I visited @UCLA today to discuss the President’s targeting of the UC system and federal research grants. I also sat down with students to discuss financial aid and UCLA’s basic and essential needs program to combat food and housing” (August 18, 2025).
Later that day, he invited constituents to an upcoming town hall meeting alongside Representative Jim McGovern: “I hope you will join me and @RepMcGovern, member of House Democratic Leadership and the top Democrat on one of the most powerful committees in Congress, at a town hall on Thursday, August 21st at 6:30 p.m. in Lafayette. We will discuss how Democrats are fighting back against the” (August 18, 2025).
On August 19, DeSaulnier addressed gun violence legislation efforts: “We are not powerless in the face of the gun violence epidemic and today I am excited to share that I reintroduced a trio of bills backed by research and science to implement commonsense solutions to make our communities safer. Learn more:” (August 19, 2025).
DeSaulnier has represented California’s 10th district since succeeding George Miller in Congress in 2015. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors from 1994 to 2006, then moved on to roles in both chambers of California’s state legislature between 2006 and 2015. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952 and currently residing in Concord at age seventy-one, DeSaulnier graduated from College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974.
