Mark DeSaulnier, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district, shared several messages on social media this week, reflecting on significant milestones and personal connections. DeSaulnier has been serving in Congress since 2015 after succeeding George Miller. His political career includes roles in the California State Assembly, the California Senate, and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.
On May 18, 2025, DeSaulnier celebrated a milestone for an educational program by posting “Happy 60th birthday @HeadStartgov! For six decades, Head Start has helped millions of children and families thrive here in CA-10 and across the country. I’m so thankful for everything Head Start providers like @First5CoCo do to support our community’s youngest learners and their”. This tweet commemorates Head Start’s six decades of service to children and families.
The following day, May 19, 2025, he expressed solidarity with President Biden amidst personal challenges by stating “As a survivor of cancer, my thoughts and prayers are with President Biden and his family”. This message highlights DeSaulnier’s empathy as a cancer survivor himself.
Later that day, DeSaulnier mourned the loss of a colleague with whom he had worked closely. He wrote “I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Contra Costa County Supervisor Federal Glover, who spent more than twenty years making our community a better place. It was an honor and a pleasure to know Federal and to be his friend. He will be deeply missed.” This tribute acknowledges Federal Glover’s contributions over two decades.
Mark DeSaulnier is originally from Lowell, Massachusetts but now resides in Concord. He graduated from College of the Holy Cross in 1974 with a BA.
