DeSaulnier has been serving in Congress since 2015 after succeeding George Miller. His political career includes roles in the California State Assembly, the California Senate, and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.
On May 18, 2025, DeSaulnier celebrated a milestone for an educational program by posting “Happy 60th birthday @HeadStartgov! For six decades, Head Start has helped millions of children and families thrive here in CA-10 and across the country. I’m so thankful for everything Head Start providers like @First5CoCo do to support our community’s youngest learners and their”. This tweet commemorates Head Start’s six decades of service to children and families.
The following day, May 19, 2025, he expressed solidarity with President Biden amidst personal challenges by stating “As a survivor of cancer, my thoughts and prayers are with President Biden and his family”. This message highlights DeSaulnier’s empathy as a cancer survivor himself.
