Mark DeSaulnier, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district since 2015, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative developments. He succeeded George Miller and has an extensive political career that includes service in the California State Assembly, Senate, and the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors.
On July 1, 2025, DeSaulnier shared insights from a town hall meeting through his Twitter account. In his post, he mentioned discussing with KTVU about the potential to block President’s budget bill with support from a few Republicans.
The following day, July 2, DeSaulnier announced via Twitter that he had introduced two amendments aimed at protecting vulnerable Americans from what he described as detrimental aspects of the Republican budget bill. One amendment seeks to prevent cuts to states’ Medicaid payments.
Later on July 2, DeSaulnier reported joining other House Democrats in efforts to obstruct what they refer to as the “Big Ugly Bill.” Through a tweet, he stated their intention to use every legislative tool available to prevent this bill from becoming law, citing its potential negative impact on millions of lives.
Mark DeSaulnier was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952 and resides in Concord. He graduated from College of the Holy Cross in 1974 with a BA.
