Mark DeSaulnier, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 10th district since 2015, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding federal education spending and ongoing U.S. military involvement in Iran. In a series of posts published between May 14 and May 15, 2026, DeSaulnier highlighted his actions during congressional hearings and legislative sessions.
On May 14, DeSaulnier posted about his participation in an @EdWorkforceDems hearing: “At today’s @EdWorkforceDems hearing, I grilled the Secretary of Education about her proposed budget, which cuts overall K-12 spending by more than $8 billion and would erode services and supports required under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, leaving students and”.
The following day, he encouraged constituents to watch his weekly update: “Tune in to our weekly video update to hear about my questioning of Secretary of Education Linda McMahon on her disastrous proposed Education Department budget, Democrats’ efforts to end Trump’s illegal war in Iran, and more.” This message referenced both the education budget proposal and Democratic opposition to U.S. military actions abroad.
Later that same day, DeSaulnier addressed the House floor regarding the costs associated with U.S. operations in Iran: “This week Democrats again voted to try and put an end to Trump’s disastrous and illegal war in Iran and today I took to the Floor to speak about the costs of this war of choice – the lives of over 2,000 civilians and 15 American servicemembers, $30 billion of taxpayer money, and”.
Mark DeSaulnier has represented California’s 10th District since succeeding George Miller in Congress in 2015. Before serving at the federal level, he was a member of the California State Assembly from 2006 to 2008 and served on the California Senate from 2008 until his election to Congress. He also held a position on the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors for over a decade. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1952, DeSaulnier is currently based in Concord.
