Mark DeSaulnier, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 10th district, has been actively addressing issues affecting his constituents through a series of recent tweets. On February 1, 2025, he announced the reintroduction of a bill aimed at tackling the housing crisis in California. "In California we’ve seen the community-wide impacts of the housing crisis. I reintroduced a bill this week to holistically address the crisis by incentivizing innovative and community-specific solutions and help local governments plan for new housing."

On February 2, 2025, DeSaulnier reported an escalation in the emergency situation at the Martinez Refining Company in Contra Costa County. He informed residents about necessary precautions due to smoke from the refinery. "Contra Costa County Health has escalated the emergency at the Martinez Refining Company to a level 3 incident. Residents in portions of Martinez, north of the refinery should shelter in place due to impacts from smoke."

By February 4, 2025, DeSaulnier emphasized his long-standing experience with the oil industry and urged regulatory agencies to hold the Martinez Refining Company accountable using their full statutory authority. "Having had 30 years of dealing with the oil industry, it is past time for every federal, state, and local regulatory agency with jurisdiction over the Martinez Refining Company to act aggressively with all the statutory authority they have to hold the refinery accountable (1/2)."
