On March 16, DeSaulnier shared his sorrow over the passing of fellow congressman Raúl Grijalva. He wrote, "I am deeply saddened by the passing of my @EdWorkforceDems colleague Raúl Grijalva. Later that day, DeSaulnier informed his constituents about the full capacity of an upcoming town hall event scheduled for March 20 in Concord. He noted alternatives for participation by stating: "Unfortunately, we’ve hit venue capacity for our Thursday, March 20th town hall in Concord from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. PT. However, you can join the town hall live on Facebook or YouTube at the links below." Links to Facebook and YouTube were provided for those who wish to attend virtually.

On March 17, DeSaulnier took a moment to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by reflecting on his Irish heritage. He tweeted a personal note: "Happy St. Patrick’s Day! In recognizing my Irish heritage, I’m thinking of my mom today and her favorite Irish saying: 'Get down on your knees and thank God you are still on your feet!'"
